As a psychotherapist and life coach I am trained primarily in a psychodynamic approach as well as in exercise physiology. I understand how the mind, body and emotions are interconnected. When we are physically attuned, we are able to access deeper parts of ourselves. These parts may be limiting due to old beliefs, negative behavior patterns or confusing emotions. Sometimes all three! Also, I bring to our work, years of coaching collegiate student athletes in team sports as well as in fitness and wellness.

My name is Ricardo and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. My work focuses on supporting people navigating eating disorders, OCD, and the unique experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals. These struggles can feel isolating—but they don’t have to be. I offer a warm, affirming space where you don’t have to explain or justify who you are or what you’re going through. Together, we’ll explore the patterns and pain points in your life with care. I use approaches like CBT, Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), and motivational interviewing, always through a trauma-informed and person-centered lens. But just as important as the tools is the relationship—we’ll build something grounded in trust and mutual respect. I know how loud the inner critic can get, how overwhelming it feels to be stuck in loops of anxiety, shame, or self-doubt. You deserve relief, and you deserve to feel more at home in yourself. Therapy can be a space where you get to exhale and be fully seen. If anything here resonates, I invite you to reach out. I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can talk about what you’re looking for and see if we’re a good fit. I’d be honored to walk alongside you on this part of your journey.

Are you stuck? Overwhelmed? Unsure of who you are and what you want? My style is compassionate, intuitive and direct. I offer an empowered approach to healing. I empower you to become a conscious co-creator of your life. I use my own life experiences to assist you in shedding shame and getting unstuck. I use tools, education and workshops to empower and enlighten you. I view symptoms as a sign one is out of alignment with their truth, rather than as a symptom to be treated. When we were not mirrored properly as children, we get stuck settling for less than we deserve in our life, work + relationships as adults. Emotional neglect erodes self-trust and lowers self-worth. I help you clear the lens you see yourself through.

Welcome to Amethyst Counseling Services I'm Rachel Lorenzo-Ramirez, a bilingual Licensed Mental Health Counselor offering virtual therapy for students and young adults across New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. College life can be exciting—and overwhelming. Whether you’re navigating academic stress, anxiety, imposter syndrome, relationship challenges, cultural or family pressures, or questions about your identity, therapy can be a space to sort through it all with support and intention. Together, we’ll work on building emotional clarity, self-compassion, and practical coping skills so you can feel more grounded and confident—on and off campus. I have a passion for working with young adults as they navigate the, sometimes difficult, processes of exploring their mental and emotional health and well being while also juggling their school, work, and relationships in their life. I work with students who are experiencing difficulties with anxiety, depression, stress management, emotional dysregulation, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, life transitions, along with many other struggles that are occurring. When working together, you will be given a safe and nonjudgmental space to gain deeper insight into what you are struggling with. You will be able to take therapy at your own pace and develop skill to help regulate emotions, manage life stressors, experience growth, and access the strength you have had all along. We will work together as a team throughout. I offer an empathetic, caring, and trauma-informed therapeutic environment. I believe that you are the expert of your life and it is an honor to be apart of that journey. Let's connect further to see if this would be a space that could be beneficial towards helping you gain deeper insight into yourself and achieving your goals.

Many people I work with describe their struggles with self-doubt, persistent worries, irrational fears, and "overthinking" tendencies, saying that they second-guess themselves and struggle to quiet their anxious thoughts. Often, these struggles are a result of past traumatic events that have shaped how the brain perceives the world. Other times, these struggles may trace back to unhelpful messaging from outside sources, which can result in learned behaviors, patterns, and ways of thinking that promote anxiety, worry, and shame. I use modalities such as EMDR, psychodynamic therapy, and CBT to support clients with these struggles. Therapy can support us to uncover and understand the impacts that traumas and other past events have on how we navigate the world. This awareness, coupled with therapeutic interventions, can support us to heal from past hardships and make changes to the learned survival techniques that are no longer serving us. Those who work with me describe me as compassionate, accepting, and interactive in my approach, and I strive to create a comfortable and judgment-free environment for my clients. I offer online scheduling, specialized, evidence-based approaches, and brief, no-cost phone consultations. I encourage you to reach out to see if working together may be a good fit!
