Therapists for college students near Indianapolis, IN
We all need someone to talk to at times, and I have dedicated my career to being that person for others. As a LCSW, I have over 6 years of experience. I enjoy working with teens and young adults to help with problems adjusting to life’s changes, relationship issues, unhealthy boundaries with family, friends and/or others, and poor self-esteem and self-worth. One of my aims is to build a compassionate and relaxed environment for clients to open up and collaborate to realize and accomplish goals. A large part of my practice has been in the treatment of grief and loss, trauma and healing, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. We will work using different techniques such as, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. I like to build on strengths that patients already possess but may not see. My style is laid back and client centered. I have a strong sense of compassion and commitment to helping others and understand that, for some, beginning counseling may be a difficult decision. I will meet you where you are to get you where you want to be. Let’s work together to improve life and start thriving!
As a counselor, I believe my role is to come alongside you in this journey, providing you with a warm and supportive space in which we can work together. My goal is to empower you to gain insight, align your life to your values, build new skills, and find a holistic sense of balance in life. My approach to counseling involves integrating techniques from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed therapy. I also offer faith-based, Christian counseling for those who desire to integrate Biblical truth and beliefs into their therapeutic journey.

My favorite part of therapy is talking things out with an empathic therapist and then returning to session the following week and sharing how my new knowledge/strategy/skill worked out for me. I am happy to suggest goals, ideas, strategies, skills, or resources depending on your need. Or I am happy to listen to you while you work out your own thoughts & feelings.

Hello, I’m Becky. I earned a Master of Social Work Degree (MSW) from Indiana University and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Therapist. Much of my work has been spent in advocating for vulnerable populations. I recently have moved into doing Private Practice work to target individual needs with my experience as a social worker providing us a large catalog of resources. We all want and need to be validated, supported, encouraged, motivated and above all, heard. I work especially well with those who are first timers or doubters of therapy or who wonder what therapy is or those who have had a “bad” exposure to therapy. I take the ”Bohemian” approach in therapy focusing on self-awareness, self-love, self-worth and building confidence by utilizing the strengths of each person and building on them before tackling some of the deeper feelings and emotions. When we are in a place where we feel strong and authentic, we can tackle anything together. I strive to make therapy comfortable and fun. My therapeutic approach is CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy). Along with active listening, I do goal setting, craft therapy, play therapy and develop coping and management skills through music, ASMR, story telling and walking along side you. I also am skilled in dream interpretation (Carl Yung/Sigmund Freud).

Gabriel Counseling Services, Inc. was founded out of a need to provide the highest quality mental health and wellness services to community members in Indiana and Michigan. Through professional experience working at the VA, in hospice care, and in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, a significant shortage of psychologists in the area became evident. In response to this need, Gabriel Counseling Services was established and has since provided psychological care and public education focused on mental health and wellness within the community. As the practice has grown, additional helping professionals and locations have been added, allowing Gabriel Counseling Services to offer a broader range of services. Our goal is to empower individuals, strengthen the community, and help improve the overall quality of life for those we serve.
We can't always decide what happens to us in life, but we can choose what we do about it. I love working with clients who are open to building trust, ready to begin exploring, and want to create change. You don't have to have it all figured out right now, I would be honored to share space with you and start the process of rediscovering yourself. I have the most experience working with self-esteem issues, anxiety, depression, difficult family relationships, romantic relationship stressors, gender identity, and sexuality. I want to learn what makes you unique, help you build trust in yourself, and help you reclaim your life narrative. My passion is in learning people's stories. I use trauma-informed techniques to look at the context of our lives, and together we can forge a new path forward towards the life you find most fulfilling. I draw from narrative therapy to learn about your story, and I use EMDR to help reprocess our experiences.
Taking care of you is important. It takes courage to carve out time to work toward self empowerment and growth. I value relationship building and reflection through the use of an eclectic approach pulling from cognitive behavior, solution focused, and other personalized therapy approaches. Together we can explore your concerns and develop plans to strive for your goals.
