Charlie Health is a virtual behavioral health program for adolescents and young adults with moderate or severe mental health concerns or co-occurring substance use or eating disorders. Designed to meet the needs of those who require more than weekly therapy, our program combines curated group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy into personalized treatment programs. We are helping to serve those who are in crisis, or have been historically underserved, by eliminating the most significant treatment barriers: geographical and financial access. We work with nearly all commercial insurance nationwide and have no waitlist, thereby helping people access quality, evidence-based care regardless of insurance, location, or other barriers.

Many of the students I work with are navigating a lot internally—stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or feeling unsure about their path. You might find yourself overthinking, putting pressure on yourself to have everything figured out, or struggling in relationships while trying to balance it all. You may look like you’re doing fine on the outside, but feel overwhelmed or stuck underneath. You don’t have to have everything figured out. If you’re open to growing, gaining clarity, and building a stronger relationship with yourself, we’d likely work well together.

With nearly 20 years of experience as a mental health counselor, I bring a compassionate, easy-going approach to therapy, creating a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their challenges and build resilience. My practice integrates evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-focused interventions, to address a wide range of mental health concerns. I am particularly passionate about the role of mindfulness and mindfulness meditation in emotional regulation, stress reduction, and personal growth. By incorporating these practices, I help individuals cultivate self-awareness, manage distress, and develop healthier coping strategies. Whether working through anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, my goal is to empower clients with the tools they need to navigate life’s complexities with greater clarity and confidence. My therapeutic style is warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative. I believe in meeting clients where they are, tailoring treatment to their unique needs, and fostering a sense of balance and well-being.

With over ten years of clinical experience, I recognize how academic stress can affect young adults. These challenges often impact individuals uniquely, depending on their backgrounds and identities. In therapy, I customize my approach to equip you with the tools and support necessary to reclaim balance and focus on your academic and social pursuits. Together, we will create a space to address these challenges.

I work best with students who are trying to figure out who they are underneath all the expectations placed on them. You might be navigating shifts in your identity, exploring your gender or sexuality, or just feeling like an outsider looking for your people. If you often feel like you have to "perform" to fit in, or if you are struggling to build genuine connections while away at school, we will likely work well together.

I work best with students who are struggling to get things done in systems that weren’t built for their minds. You may be neurodivergent, dealing with burnout or procrastination, or feeling stuck despite caring deeply about your work. I also love helping students form their own identity, especially those who feel culturally different or come from diverse backgrounds. Many of the students I work with are carrying stress or past experiences that still show up in the present, and we make space for that at a pace that feels safe. Our work is practical and supportive, with room for both skill-building and the heavier stuff you don’t always get to talk about.

Life throws curve balls. You don't have to take them on alone. I believe in creating a safe environment to help you manage everything you are carrying. In addition to private practice, I have experience working in community behavioral health for 7 years and in a brief intervention virtual program for 3 years, providing therapy to adolescents and adults. I have worked with clients with various diagnoses and those seeking assistance in self-esteem, relationships, life transitions, parenting, and grief and loss, among others. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. I believe in establishing a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients to work together to achieve established goals in a safe and trusting environment. It takes courage to ask for help and seeking support in therapy is the first step in making a positive change. Throughout every session, I work to help you develop and utilize coping mechanisms to make progress towards your goals. I look forward to working with you!

When I began college it was 8 years after high school and I was married. I was anxious that I may not be able to get the degrees that I wanted after being out of school for so long, but I was experiencing childlessness and wanted to be a mother. Keeping busy was something that I needed due to major depression. We did not have free college opportunities then, so I had to make the grades in order to finance this endeavor. This became a goal which required good study habits and commitment. I attended a community college first, then UTC, and then I completed my masters at Grand Canyon University with a 4.0 GPA. This paid for all of the undergraduate work but not for my Master's, which landed me in debt, but I survived. I have been an entrepreneur for 4 decades of various specialties, and have worn many hats. I love music, art, and journalism which have become most beneficial. I have written 37 songs and intend to write a book soon. I went through 6 surgeries to have my two daughters and have 3 special needs grandchildren and one special needs daughter. Also, I am learning ASL and hope to be able to add this population to my clientele. As a small agency, we do not have interpreters for the deaf but do provide a list of practitioners who do. Hiwassee Mental Health, Heidi Ables, and other larger organizations can provide the deaf with interpreter services. We do have Spanish and facilities for those in wheel chairs to aid with those special needs. We work with individuals, groups, families, and do certified classes for anger management, A&D Prevention, and Parenting. We work with ages 4-100 since each of us have special populations in which we prioritize. Please refer to www.healhopecounseling.com to read our articles, blogs/posts and see if we are a good fit. Also, read our bios. We are empirically (evidence) and faith based. Welcome to Heal and Hope Counseling Services. NPI 1184178428, Graduated 2012. I am a board-certified psychiatrist and Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. For me, being a physician is more than a profession—it is a vocation to help indviduals flourish. My practice is devoted to students and young adults seeking thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care that extends beyond symptom relief. I provide comprehensive evaluations that consider medical, nutritional, lifestyle, and psychological factors—including laboratory testing when clinically appropriate—to identify the contributors to emotional and cognitive health. I also specialize in evidence-based de-prescribing for patients who wish to reduce or discontinue psychiatric medications for anxiety, attention difficulties, or substance use disorders. My approach is guided by precision, humility, and restraint: using the least intensive intervention necessary while drawing upon the full breadth of evidence-based medicine. Depending on each patient's needs and goals, I integrate psychotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, exercise, targeted supplementation, and, when appropriate, carefully selected medications into a personalized treatment plan. In addition to my clinical work, I have presented internationally on psychiatric deprescribing and medical ethics. My work has been recognized with awards from the American Psychiatric Association, the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and other leading professional organizations. I am the Founder & Medical Director of Verigrate Health. I am licensed to serve patients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Lousiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin.
