Hey there and welcome to therapy! Congrats on taking the steps to focus on YOU! My name is Kailyn and I am dedicated to creating a supportive and authentic environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself. Whether you're managing the challenges of college life or simply looking for someone to talk to, I’m here to guide and support you. My approach is centered on building a warm and trusting therapeutic relationship that helps you grow, increase your self-awareness, and improve your overall well-being. I am a Master’s level clinician with a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rosemont College and a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Art from Saint Joseph’s University. I have a strong background in working with young adults and adults, helping them navigate issues such as anxiety, depression ADHD, trauma, life transitions, and self-esteem. My experience includes working in both individual and group settings, and I’m committed to helping you address whatever challenges you may be facing. In therapy, I utilize a personalized approach that may include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical-behavioral therapy (DBT), somatic therapies, and mindfulness-based interventions. My goal is to help you discover what works best for you, empowering you to build self-compassion, enhance your relationships, and develop emotional resilience. When I'm not in therapist mode, I enjoy unwinding with a good TV show (currently Love Island), spending quality time with my fur-babies, enjoying live music, exploring nature, and staying connected with family and friends. I’m here to support you on your journey. Let’s take the first step together.

Many of the students and young adults we work best with are in the middle of a transition. They may have just moved away from home, started college or graduate school, begun a new job, or are trying to figure out who they are outside of their family. On the outside, it can look like they’re “doing fine.” On the inside, they often feel anxious, overwhelmed, uncertain, or afraid of making the wrong choices. You might relate if you’re struggling with independence — wanting space from your family but also feeling pulled back by guilt or expectations. Maybe you worry about the future, question your decisions constantly, or feel behind compared to everyone else. “Adulting” can feel harder than anyone warned you about. If you’re navigating identity, relationships, pressure to succeed, or fear of what comes next, you’re not alone. We work well with students who are thoughtful, self-aware, and ready to better understand themselves — even if they’re not sure where to start.

I work with college students and adults who are navigating stress, anxiety, academic pressures, relationships, and life transitions. I take a collaborative and supportive approach, tailoring therapy to each person’s unique needs and goals. Some clients choose to explore EMDR, and I’m trained to use it when it fits, but many find our sessions helpful through conversation, reflection, and practical coping strategies. I aim to create a space where students feel understood and empowered, whether you’re struggling with burnout, uncertainty about the future, or past experiences that continue to affect your life. I accept BCBS of Michigan and BCN and offer telehealth sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays to make therapy accessible and easy to fit into a busy schedule.

College is this interesting time of transition where you are given an opportunity to explore independence away from your parents, hometown, and all that feels comfortable. But for many, this independence and freedom can be lonely, confusing and downright uncomfortable. You may feel like you are not cut out to succeed in such a high pressure environment. Decisions can seem overwhelming. Am I in the right major? What internship should I choose? Should I study abroad? Do I need to take a semester off? How do I manage my money? The pressure to perform academically can be intense and feel overwhelming. Picking a major, choosing classes, second guessing your decisions, and simply managing time and assignments can feel insurmountable. If you previously struggled with time management or organization, you may find your safety net is now far away and now your grades are suffering. I have worked with many students just like you. I work to treat a range on issues that get in the way of optimal academic performance - from depression to anxiety to ADHD. I further specialize in working with students who are also parents. Parenting young children while working towards your degree is no small feat. Pregnancy and/or postpartum during graduate school is challenging but together we can get through it. Many college students today lack the coping skills that are necessary to address life’s ups and downs. They often feel disconnected emotionally, and are unable to handle stress, peer and relationship issues, or the school, college, or work environment. When a teen is struggling with academics, they receive tutoring or support to develop the skills they need to succeed. Emotional health is no different. Teens need tools to help them regulate their emotions, develop connections with others, and create a healthy, well-rounded lifestyle. I take an integrated, solution-focused approach to working with adolescents and young adults who are dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I treat the whole person, not just their symptoms, with the goal of giving them the tools they need to manage whatever comes their way – now and for the rest of their lives.

Finding a comfortable fit between you and your therapist is a very important first step in the process of choosing a qualified licensed psychologist. My approach to therapy involves working in a collaborative, respectful, open, direct, and warm manner. Since our past and present often weave together, exploring the present within the context of the past helps us to understand life patterns which may greatly impact one's relationships, career, and overall physical and mental health. Psychotherapy is not easily described in general statements. There are many different methods I may use to deal with the problems that you hope to address. Behavior therapy is not like a medical doctor visit. Instead, it calls for a very active effort on your part. In order for the therapy to be most successful, you will have to work on things we talk about both during our sessions, in between sessions, and at home. Psychotherapy can have benefits and risks. Since therapy often involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, you may experience uncomfortable feelings such as sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness, and helplessness. On the other hand, psychotherapy has also been shown to have benefits for people who go through it. Therapy often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and significant reductions in feelings of distress. But there are no guarantees of what you will experience. Our first few sessions will involve an evaluation of your needs. By the end of the evaluation, I will be able to offer you some first impressions regarding our work together, including a treatment plan to follow if you decide to continue with therapy. You should evaluate this information along with your own opinions of whether you feel comfortable working with me. Therapy involves a large commitment of time, money, and energy, so you should be very careful about the therapist you select. If you have questions about my procedures, we should discuss them whenever they arise.

When I retired from professional ballet, I attended Princeton University for my undergraduate studies. I started going to therapy and found it helped me participate more fully in my life and find more joy in my experience of college. My interest in mental health led me to study social work at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by sport psychology in Scotland, as a Fulbright scholar. I enjoy working with a variety of people, including athletes/artists/performers navigating transitions and retirement.

College is full of transitions, like moving away from home and support systems, navigating relationships while balancing academic stress, and entering the professional world after graduation. These transitions can be exciting, but also daunting and overwhelming! So whether you are just starting to explore ways to improve your mental wellbeing or have been struggling for many years, you don't have to navigate it alone. My approach to therapy is always rooted in empathy, compassion, and a genuine curiosity about your unique experiences. We will work together using evidence-based practices to strengthen coping skills for the symptoms you most wish to address. Once these symptoms feel more manageable, we can then identify treatment goals that are built around understanding the impact of your past experiences, current obstacles, and hopes for the future (even if you don't know what those are yet!). I have provided individual therapy for seven years, and am especially passionate about helping those with neurodivergence (whether formally diagnosed or not) make sense of historical struggles through a non-judgmental, self-compassionate lens. Everyone can benefit from having a safe and supportive space to tackle symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, life stressors, self-esteem issues, or any other mental health difficulties. I welcome an opportunity to speak with you about your therapy goals and to see if we are a good fit, so please reach out to me via email, or phone (texts are okay too)!
