Hi there! I'm Morgan, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I provide individual therapy for students dealing with daily anxiety, adjusting to college life, navigating relationships, and seeking support in a nonjudgmental space. I am a relational therapist who emphasizes a social justice approach to my work. I believe that to truly, deeply understand ourselves, we must look at the larger context within which we operate. In the therapy room, I strive to support you as you explore your own history and identity with curiosity, warmth, and care. I apply a trauma-informed lens to provide affirming care, as I believe that a respectful, supportive relationship is a key aspect of facilitating growth and self-acceptance. I am especially effective at working with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and ASD, alongside life transitions and gender and sexuality explorations. I hold a doctorate from Widener University in Clinical Psychology, and also a Masters in Education in Human Sexuality. Throughout my training and career I have developed a speciality in working with the queer and trans community, individuals, couples, poly-relationship styles, and families. As a therapist, I believe in using an integrative, multicultural, intersectional approach wherein my clients are welcome to explore difficult or private subjects including self-image, trauma, relationships, and a variety of other topics.
Therapy is a great tool to explore how your past experiences and early relationships influence your current relationships, symptoms of anxiety, depression, and how you navigate and process feelings. I truly believe the relational component to therapy (relationship between therapist and patient) can bring to light reactions, feelings, and patterns that show up outside of the therapy space. With this, you can begin to gain insight into how these experiences make you feel and make changes that align with your wants and needs. My hope is to create a collaborative, non-judgmental and validating space to allow for exploration of concerns and enable growth. I encourage you to contact me so we can begin to explore what is holding you back from living a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

For individual and family therapy, I use a client-based, relational approach that focuses on positive communication, mutual respect, and active listening skills. I enjoy collaborating with clients on goals. I have a strong background in trauma and in providing services for at-risk teens and young adults. I offer counseling for mood and personality disorders, grief and loss, separation/divorce and family issues, as well as for medically based diagnoses, such as ADHD, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and cancer. My style is person-centered and eclectic, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused interventions. I also enjoy providing group therapy for children, teens, and adults, and I believe that each group is an opportunity for growth, connection, and validation.

A dandelion will remain closed if there is a storm on the horizon, but once the storm has passed it will open up its beautiful, vulnerable self to the world. Only with safety is healing possible. In the same way, humans stay closed up tight if the environment isn’t safe. We know the importance of a safe, supportive environment and strive to provide that to each client. For counseling in Pennsylvania, whether in-person or online, we are here to walk beside you, hear your experience, provide guidance, and help you find the life you’ve so desired. The art of therapy is a process with which it can take time to become familiar. Psychotherapy is most effective when the therapist and the client are able to build trust with each other. The trust established between the client and the therapist allows for openness, honesty, and vulnerability in the session. As you progress through therapy, you may experience difficult emotions such as anger, hurt, disappointment, or pain. These emotions are natural to the healing process and it is my role to help care for you when you do experience these emotions. Practicing primarily from a Psychodynamic frame with a strong emphasis on attachment, I incorporate Schema, Cognitive-Behavioral, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and other Process-Experiential approaches and techniques based on the needs of the client(s). Although I work with a variety of issues, my primary clinical focus is trauma, emotional abuse, affairs and betrayal traumas, existential crisis and restoration/deepening of the relationship one has with him/her/their self. Simply, I am interested in helping individuals and couples restore their sense of safety, re-establish their sense of self, re-discover their place in relationships and the world, and find meaning in life. Populations with whom I am particularly familiar and enjoy working with are: Young Adults, Artists and Creatives, and the LGBTQ Community. I help individuals, couples and groups work through relationship and life-stage concerns, issues pertaining to sexuality and gender identity, and questions and concerns around faith and spirituality.
Welcome! I am a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice at PhilaPsy, where I offer psychotherapy for adults of all ages and specialize in working with individuals in early to middle adulthood. I have a varied practice, with people coming to therapy for a wide range of reasons. My areas of particular focus include working with young adults and adults navigating anxiety, depression, transitions or changes in life, stress, self-esteem, identity, relationship issues, interpersonal conflict, trauma, and feeling lonely, angry, empty or stuck. Across contexts, I provide identity affirming, culturally responsive, relational care. Therapy invites people to explore, process, and make sense of their ideas, emotions, experiences, challenges, and areas of conflict. I approach this work with collaboration and curiosity, bringing focus to how our relationships, social systems, personal histories, and development inform the ways we experience ourselves, others, and the worlds we inhabit. I believe a central part of feeling helped is finding a therapist who brings hope, humor, safety, and a sense of belonging. With the right fit, therapy can provide building blocks for people to heal, find community, uncover a path for themselves, and discover ways of living in this world that feel meaningful. If you are interested in reaching out, I offer a free phone consultation to get a sense of what you are looking for, address questions, and discuss possible next steps. The world we live in is complicated and ever-changing, and the patterns we develop to address the challenges of life often cease to work for us...in fact, no strategy for living, relating to others, or to ourselves can ever work optimally forever. A depression, a personal life crisis, marital upsets and family conflicts are painful but often signal an important opportunity for self-reflection, assessment of "where I've been" in life, and the chance to create a new pathway for moving forward. This is where an expert therapist can be of value. When I work with a client, I listen to both the words of their story and also the feelings within the words. Often people have never felt free and safe to truly express themselves, to share a painful life event. Therapy can provide that opportunity. FaceTime and Skype sessions...I've been doing them for some time now. It's a great way to have an appointment when you can't get to the office, and it's also an ideal way to begin therapy and determine if I'm the right therapist for you.
