I work toward internal and external hope, while also acknowledging the difficult realities and stressors that uniquely affect individuals and relationships. I use art therapy, client-centered, cognitive behavioral, and trauma-informed approaches to therapy recognizing that healing and wholeness come as part of a process. In addition to talk therapy, I am a professional Art Therapist. Art therapy can help hold difficult feelings and experiences for all ages while also creating a safe space for non-verbal and verbal expression. No "artistic skill" is needed and life isn't always pretty, so that is not the goal with the art either. My clinical work has focused on treating trauma and various mental health disorders in children and adults. I have provided art therapy and counseling programming in a women’s shelter for domestic violence, Pittsburgh Public schools K-12, and a therapeutic classroom environment. I now work with adults and children in a private group practice setting. I am currently accepting new clients! Feel free to email me with any questions.

At Terra Firma, our mission is also our greatest passion: to help you recognize how awesome you really are, and that you’re capable of anything you put your mind to! We want to help you evolve into the version of you who feels seen, heard, and understood; the one who feels confident, happy, and whole. We know that there are times where it feels like there’s absolutely no way that’s ever going to happen, because you’re just not the kind of person who’s capable of feeling better. But you absolutely can and we're here to help you get there! What makes our practice a little different is that we approach each client with the understanding that people do not fit neatly inside little boxes. Your relationships, career, hobbies, diet and exercise, spiritual beliefs, etc. etc. are all interacting to create the current version of you. In our holistic therapy approach, we shirk the mindset that you are a narrow range of symptoms to be treated, and instead look at you as a whole person. Our approach is built on empathy and compassion, and is designed to arm you with the wellness tools needed to help you tackle the various battles you may be facing along your holistic journey to happiness.

I specialize in helping people navigate anxiety, panic, OCD, and overwhelming stress. College can be an exciting time, but it can also bring a lot of pressure of academics, relationships, uncertainty about the future, and the feeling that you have to have everything figured out. Seeking support isn’t a sign that something is wrong with you. It’s a way to build resilience and learn how to handle the challenges that come with this stage of life.

Thoughts can be overwhelming. If you find yourself unable to turn your thoughts off, or if you've ever been told that you're hard on yourself then we can work on making your thoughts and emotions feel more manageable for you. Maybe right now grief, anxiety, or depression are really loud, and together to make them feel less intimidating. These are areas I'm passionate in. I offer in-person or telehealth sessions on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. Mondays are only available for telehealth. I also for a free 15minute consultation. [ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS FOR WEDNESDAYS, SATURDAYS, AND SUNDAYS] [NOTE: I cannot accent clients who attend the University of Pittsburgh due to a conflict of interest] My mission is to join with others in pursuit of healing, empowerment, and liberation. Those who work with me are often exploring issues of gender, sexuality, and race; privilege, marginalization, and systemic oppression; complex trauma; and relationships. We often focus on alleviating the anxiety, depression, and disconnection from self and others that can come with these experiences. Together, we work towards building self-understanding so you can make decisions about your life and relationships with awareness and intention. I am a queer, agender, social justice-focused and relationally-oriented therapist. Central to my approach is curiosity about the cultural systems and personal relationships that shape your experience. I also have experience integrating tarot, ritual, and dream work as therapeutic tools. I am happy to incorporate your personal healing practices into our work. The relationship we build is our greatest tool for healing. I approach therapy as a collaborator, and work with clients to create a relationship characterized by trust, safety, authenticity, vulnerability, and warmth, humility, and genuine care. We can dream up what healing looks like and strive towards it together.

Therapy is a process. When looking for a therapist, you want someone who can see your goals and provide insight into how they can become reality. Therapy isn’t something that you can just come into one session and be magically healed. When I say therapy is a process, I mean, that therapy comes with challenges, but also rewards. If you can be completely open and honest in this process, I can promise that I will not only work to be a guiding light in this fog you are walking through, but also someone who is going to challenge you and help you bring your inner dialogue out. When I am working with a client, I will bring strategies that you can implement, challenging questions, and overwhelming support. There are going to be days where you may feel like giving up on your ideas, dreams, or passions but I want to remind you that resilience isn’t just about being able to take pain, but resilience is fighting for a future you want. I work with a multitude of specialities including beauty standards, colorism, stress from the political climate, trauma responses, parenting and how your childhood impacts this, social anxiety. Some of the specialties that I focus on are Beauty standard/colorism. We live in a society where European standards seem to be the beauty standard but beauty comes in different shades as well as different shapes. It’s not society‘s job to tell you what makes you beautiful, it’s your own job to remind you that you are beautiful the way you are And how you interpret that in your day-to-day life. Identity also plays a part in my specialties. Being a biracial woman myself, I hold space for Multiple aspects of identity. Every person you know has intersectional pieces of their identity and what I work on is understanding those pieces and how they work to frame your decisions, choices and life. Working through trauma experiences can be difficult. Things that you may not even think to be triggers such as certain sounds you hear, a song that plays at a restaurant, or even the smell of a cologne can completely change your mood. I specialize in working through trauma experiences due to incest. Especially if these experiences are continuing to impact you through the role of a parent. As a parent, you’re already going through mental gymnastics, whether or not you should let your kid out to be at a sleepover party or finding that they have a group of friends that were similar to yours as a kid. Rather than internalizing these fears, I want to create an open discussion where we can process your feelings and thoughts, give you validity to your emotions, but also give you the better understanding that all these emotions still impact your child. Lastly, in the climate that we’re in, politics should not be an issue we avoid. Whether you are on the right or left side, there are things that are happening in current news today that may be impacting you emotionally, financially, and maybe even physically. As your therapist, I’m here to not only just listen to you but also give you the chance to have your voice heard even if you have family with opposing views, friends with opposing views or even neighbors. The therapeutic process does not need to be one that is shortened by fear. Coming into a therapy session, I want you to feel like you have room to talk and that someone is actually listening. This isn’t just an hour of your time that you hope your therapist is making it a safe space but it’s an hour of your time that you were working towards a goal, something that you want in life. I don’t want to just create a safe space for you, I want to help you create a space where your inner thoughts can be heard, validated and respected.
