Therapists for college students near New York, NY
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker committed to helping you tackle your college daily life challenges and stress. I'm Puerto Rican and I'm fluent in Spanish and English. I offer person-centered and motivational therapy. All sessions are telehealth and video. My hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays 11am to 6pm.
My passion is helping people improve their relationships and gain a deeper understanding of themselves. I enjoy working with people who are curious about how they experience the world, and who are facing challenges with major life transitions, relationships, creativity, and gender/sexuality. My approach to treatment is warm and eclectic. Therapy is a space to be curious and challenge yourself without judgment. I hope to engage you in an exploratory process to get to the root of what has been troubling you. People often find themselves caught in longstanding, unconscious patterns that show up in many areas of their lives. By working together to identify what these patterns are and how they do or don't serve you, we can create more space in your life for freedom and choice to live as you desire. Good therapy is most of all about a good fit between you and your therapist. I believe you can best gauge our fit by meeting with me, and so I offer a free 15-minute consultation for you to get a feel for how I work, and to bring forth your questions and concerns. I look forward to getting started!

As a clinician with a decade of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a doctorate in clinical psychology, I bring a thoughtful, integrative, and person-centered approach to therapy. My work is grounded in a humanistic theoretical orientation, and I approach each therapeutic relationship with warmth, respect, and curiosity. I strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely heard and supported in making sense of their experiences, in their own words. While I prioritize a person-centered lens, I also draw from evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, and ACT, tailoring treatment to meet each client’s unique needs. I am deeply committed to multicultural awareness, equity, and advocacy in clinical practice. I have extensive experience working with individuals who are BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S, and first-gen. My approach is affirming, identity-conscious, and culturally responsive, with an emphasis on honoring the complexity and intersectionality of each client’s lived experience. In addition to English, I am fluent in Mandarin and Shanghainese, and I welcome clients who may benefit from therapy in their native language. It is an honor and a privilege to support individuals in navigating life transitions, identity development, and emotional well-being with care, openness, and collaboration. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
I’m a generalist clinician who helps clients explore and shift patterns that no longer serve them. I work with individuals navigating OCD, anxiety, grief, loss, and life transitions, including college students, young adults, and families adjusting to change. I offer a calm, collaborative space focused on your goals, using evidence-informed approaches like CBT to build coping skills, strengthen relationships, and support meaningful change. I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment for anxiety, OCD-related concerns, phobias, and sleep difficulties Over the past several years, I have noticed that many college students struggle academically due to undiagnosed ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and attention-related concerns that may go overlooked. In response to this need, I have added comprehensive and affordable ADHD diagnostic testing to my practice to help students better understand their difficulties, access appropriate treatment recommendations, and obtain accommodations when clinically indicated for academic settings and standardized testing. In addition to ADHD testing, I frequently work with students experiencing anxiety, obsessive thinking, perfectionism, panic, OCD symptoms, sleep disruption, and stress related to academic performance and life transitions.
I believe that therapy is a space to tell your unique story, where your lived experience will be received, honored, and validated without judgment. By diving into that story together, I can help guide you in understanding yourself and charting a course for future growth. As we walk this path together, we will work toward self-acceptance, empowerment, and joy. I support clients through a variety of challenges, such as exploring identity, navigating transitions, strengthening relationships, processing trauma, and coping with stress. As a queer, gender non-binary therapist, I am particularly passionate about providing sexuality- and gender-affirming therapy to queer and trans clients of all ages. I prioritize queer joy and gender euphoria in the therapeutic space, and strive to create a safe haven for clients to explore their identities beyond heteronormative sexuality and binary gender. My therapeutic approach is tailored to the individual client, and incorporates a variety of techniques and approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and anti-oppressive practice. My therapeutic style is goal-oriented and client-centered, and I prioritize collaboratively constructing a set of goals to bring intentionality to my work with clients. I strive to bring warmth, empathy, and patience to my work, and I encourage clients to identify and leverage their unique strengths and capabilities. My practice is informed by queer theory and critical race theory, and I strive to help clients explore how their lives have been influenced by social structures of oppression and inequality. In my free time, I love spending quality time with family and friends and finding new favorite spots to eat in my neighborhood. On the weekends, you can find me exploring Astoria Park and fawning over every dog I meet.

I have done psychotherapy with graduate students, especially around relationship, bereavement (particularly early parental loss), anxiety and fertility issues for over twenty years. I believe that most emotional pain stems from both difficult life circumstances and how we perceive those events. I work in an open, warm and empathically challenging way to help people better explore, understand and wrestle with the issues that are keeping them from finding more peace, joy, freedom and fulfillment.

Before becoming a therapist, I was a college professor. My favorite part of the job was supporting students who were going through it, whether because of the transition of becoming a college student, or because they were experiencing mental health challenges for the first time--or a worsening of symptoms. I love working with clients who are dealing with perfectionism, people-pleasing/boundary setting, communication challenges (with family, roommates, friends, partners), general anxiety, social anxiety, depression, and OCD. I also have a lot of experience and passion working with clients navigating gender and sexuality, including being on the ace/aro spectrums.
