Therapists for college students near Northeastern University
Using an integrative approach, my therapeutic style is grounded in compassion, honesty, humor, and humility. I work with individuals of all ages, but specialize in working with college-age adults. Individual therapy sessions are provided for 45-minutes/session, usually scheduled on a weekly basis. These weekly sessions lay the foundation for a strong therapeutic relationship, help with learning new skills, and create important momentum so you can experience relief and reach your therapy goals. We will work together to acknowledge and understand your past experiences and begin to re-affirm your feelings of personal worth. I also provide full and partial psychological evaluations, diagnostic evaluations (ADHD, mood, anxiety, learning, autism, developmental disorders), and educational evaluations. Assessments can be structured to measure social functioning, personality, memory, language, learning, and attention, or to provide diagnostic clarity. Individualized recommendations provided will support and facilitate growth, helping to set the path for success.
I specialize in helping people who are struggling with eating disorders, self-esteem, and trauma. I take a warm, collaborative and holistic approach to help you better understand yourself, un-learn old ways of being, and develop the capacity to manage all that life brings. Together, at a pace you are comfortable with, we can explore places in your life where you feel stuck, and move towards the life you want to live. My goal is to help you find peace within yourself and with your body.

People say "you are too sensitive" when you share how you feel. Your family and heritage are important to you but there is tension. It's hard to feel relaxed in your body. At times you feel restless and at other times stiff and numb. Feeling balanced is tough. At times, you feel hopeless. You don't like how you tend to replay conversations in your mind. There are too many negative and anxious thoughts that come. Thank you for your interest in my practice! One main strategy to help you with is called EMDR-Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. A technique that is based in neuroscience that heals your brain naturally-much like eye movements during REM sleep. Developing a safe space to process your emotions, memories, and implementing strategies that will be effective is essential. I am also trained in other modalities like DBT, CBT, and psychodynamic therapy.

Areas of special interest include anxiety and depression; trauma and post traumatic stress; grief and loss; relationship concerns; identity development and issues of race, class, gender, and sexuality; and veterans' experiences. In addition to my private practice, I supervise psychology doctoral students and provide outpatient psychotherapy at a local hospital.

I have experience working with refugee populations, as well as survivors of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault. As an Indian-American and immigrant woman, my work is grounded in the intersectionality of gender, racial identity, country of origin, migration, systemic oppression, and sexuality. I enjoy working with individuals across all identities and specialize in working with individuals who hold multiple cultural and/or racial identities.
My therapeutic orientation is guided by psychodynamic, humanistic, and relational approaches, and founded on a strengths-based model, which emphasizes that each person is the expert of their own story. My style is compassionate, empowering, and accessible, and I focus on meeting people where they are. I draw on a range of modalities including narrative therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Liberation Health, and motivational interviewing. My clinical approach is trauma-informed and collaborative, with a queer, feminist, and anti-oppressive lens. I have worked in a variety of settings including hospitals, crisis centers, schools and colleges. I provide psychotherapy to adults of all ages and backgrounds, specializing in anxiety, depression, PTSD, identity, life transitions, relationships, gender and sexuality, and the survival of domestic and or sexual violence. I worked for five years at a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) clinic with individuals experiencing severe, medication-resistant depression, advocating for clients’ needs. My identities and experiences working in a variety of clinical settings have strengthened my passion for working with queer and BIPOC individuals to support healing, growth, and joy.

Therapy is about seeking balance and asking questions and looking for answers. Finding a balance between what we feel and what we know and a balance between the quicker emotional side of our mind and the more considered rational side are part of the process. Whether the questions are around school, interpersonal relationships, substance abuse, or career and motivation the answers will come only with this balance. My approach to therapy is about solving problems based on a relational and collaborative approach offering a supportive and sympathetic ear balanced with reality and solutions. With nearly 25 years of experience in the field I bring a diverse background giving me strong clinical skills in the areas of substance abuse, depression, anxiety, career and family issues. Life is a series of experiments, some good some not so good. Therapy is a way to sort out the good from the bad and, giving yourself credit for what you know and can do and putting it to work for a better tomorrow I invite you to give me a call at 617-524-1220 To protect your privacy my phone is a confidential landline which does NOT accept text messages
College can be an exciting time of growth, but it also brings unique pressures and challenges. Whether you’re navigating relationships, academic stress, identity questions, family dynamics, or the impact of trauma or loss, therapy can be a place to reflect, process, and move forward. I provide psychotherapy with a focus on resilience—helping you build on your strengths while exploring the experiences and emotions that may be holding you back. I also prescribe medications when appropriate, integrating therapy and medication to support your overall well-being. My approach is collaborative, warm, and grounded in humanistic and relational values. I’ve worked extensively with students and young adults, and I understand how transitional this stage of life can be. Therapy can help you understand yourself more deeply, cope with emotional challenges, and create meaningful change in your personal, academic, and professional life. My office is conveniently located just a short walk from the Red Line at Central Square, and easily accessible by bus. If you’re curious about starting therapy or wondering whether medication might be helpful, I’d be happy to talk with you about the next steps.
Each of us has the potential to connect with and live from a creative, energized and compassionate center. Once established, we can perpetually draw upon this connection to understand and accept our past, to guide our present, and to embrace our future. With warmth, commitment and respect, and with attention to body, mind, and spirit, I work to help people access the inner resources they need to live with happiness, safety and ease. As a therapist, I meet people where they are. Many people come to therapy when they find themselves stuck repeating old patterns in relationships, work/school, or how they treat themselves. I'm a clinical psychologist with over 17 years of experience in helping people understand themselves more deeply so that change becomes possible. I approach people with a warm, collaborative, and exploratory style. If you're wanting to make sense of what's holding you back and move toward a more authentic, connected life, I can help. I welcome people of all identities and practice gender-affirming care. I use a psychodynamic approach that focuses on thoughts, feelings, and reactions that come up in your life and in our sessions. These moments often connect to deeper issues that we can then explore. I add cognitive-behavioral tools when helpful. Reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable, and it's important to find a therapist you feel comfortable with. In our first sessions I offer an open space in which you can speak freely and we can get to know each other. If you're unsure whether we're a good fit, I'm happy to talk over phone or email about what you're looking for. I specialize in: • Anxiety and mood disorders • Relationship and interpersonal difficulties • Identity development and LGBTQ+ concerns • Life transitions • Young adults/adults seeking ongoing psychotherapy

I actively engage with my clients to help them identify and articulate their distress. We work together to discover the counter-productive behaviors and thought patterns leading to this distress. We then work together again on challenging and changing those thoughts and actions. You can expect a therapy experience that is engaged, solution focused, and interactive.
