I am a clinical social worker and expressive art therapist. I'm passionate about art and mental health education and use both to support people as they develop skills and learn therapeutic tools to manage symptoms. In individual therapy, I enjoy working with young adults to help them develop positive relationships with themselves. I want to learn about you, how you think, how you learned those things, and what truly energizes you. Therapy can focus on processing the past using art and EMDR while also focusing on falling in love with the present. My speciality is using expressive art in therapy. Whether you believe yourself to be creative or not, my hope is to guide you through different ways to use art for relaxation and self-expression in group, individual, and family sessions. Sometimes words are not enough.

You're studying nursing because you want to make a difference in the world. But it doesn't feel like you thought it would. You are faced with challenges in clinical that were never talked about in the classroom. By the end of the day, you're numb and exhausted. You spend your nights looking up how to transfer to a different major. You are spending your weekends watching the same show on repeat and wondering if this is really the college experience everyone talks about. Therapy designed specifically for nursing students focuses on creating a restorative space where you can finally slow down and process the emotions you push aside to make it through the day. We will talk about how to maintain self-care and balance while you study one of the hardest majors and learn the coping tools and boundaries needed to support ongoing success in your profession. I am a licensed psychotherapist utilizing holistic, creative modalities to provide healing that is effective for children, adolescents and adults. I utilize two main modalities in my practice: Expressive Arts Therapy and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). Through these modalities, I empower people who are having difficulty with depression and anxiety due to transitions, low self-esteem, stress, chronic pain, relationship issues, work/school obligations, trauma and grief. Expressive Arts Therapy is an effective way to process difficult emotions by making meaning through the exploration of our creative works. EFT is part of a holistic mind-body movement that works by finding the negative charges in our bodies while simultaneously sending calming signals to decrease our physical and emotional responses. My clients describe me as relatable, comforting, and validating. With compassion and acceptance, I welcome you to join me just as you are.
Our life experiences are unique, yet we share similar traits that enable us to relate to each other at the deepest level. In that space, change can be nurtured in a warm yet challenging enough manner, to give you the tools that you need to show up in your community, family, school and work with joy and confidence. Whether you are struggling with cultural issues, body image and identity questions, or adjustment to the specific challenges of a learning environment, I invite you to reach out. You are not alone.
As a therapist, I partner with you to make sense of your story. Through this work, we often discover together that what’s happening for you in the present makes perfect sense given what you’ve lived through so far and the forces that have shaped you. With this understanding, you can more easily access softness toward yourself and others, and even find other ways of being. I primarily practice from relational psychodynamic and trauma perspectives, drawing from neurodevelopmental, family systems, and body-based frames as appropriate. As a social worker, I am attuned to the ways that systems of power and oppression contribute to experiences of mental health.

Life is a multifaceted journey. Sometimes we need help along the way. That's where I come in! *providing telehealth services* You are valid. Your feelings are valid. You are not crazy. You most certainly are not broken. I offer you all a place to feel safe, heard, and validated. I am not the authority on your life but am an outside perspective. I want to treat you like a person, not a number on a page. I value open and honest communication. I will not suggest a course of treatment that I have not researched or tried on myself. I value the use of self-disclosure if it will in turn benefit your healing process. I have spent time engaging in intensive family treatment in homes and individual work through my private practice. I am open and honest and provide individualistic treatment to everyone who decides to work with me. I want to be a tool that is used to provide some help.
Though it may be difficult to see the opportunity for healing and change in the midst of a struggle, seeking help is a first step toward new possibilities. I am dedicated to building a deep relationship with you and provide a private and safe space for you to explore your concerns. My specialties include identity concerns, existential challenges and crises, cultural adjustment, life transitions, depression, anxiety, loss and grief and trauma. I enjoy working with college and graduate students, international students, and young adults. I also enjoy working with creatives, scientists, healthcare professionals, activists and meditators and bring my own direct experience with meditation and creativity to my work. My therapeutic lens is psychodynamic and is deeply informed by Buddhist psychology. I integrate mindfulness practices, meditation, breath work, and Compassion Focused Therapy in my approach. My practice is collaborative, holistic, and flexible, holding space for all aspects of wellbeing, the emotional, physical, spiritual, relational, and creative. I have been the field since in 1994 following a career in the arts. I have worked in college counseling centers, community mental health and hospital settings and have been in private practice since 2004.
