Starting college is a considerable milestone in a person’s life; it is both exciting and frightening for students and parents. I have formally worked in college health for over eight years at the University of Colorado Boulder and enjoy working with young people, undergraduates and graduate students alike, at this point in their lives. I love seeing their growth and being able to help guide them through difficult times. I can help with evaluations, medications, and general guidance specific to their issues; whether it be ADHD, OCD, PMS/PMDD, anxiety, mood difficulties and women's mental health. Therapy is encouraged when more in-depth counseling is needed and I am happy to collaborate with therapists for the benefit of the student. Right now I am mostly providing care through video counseling but have added some office visits. I am licensed in New Mexico as well and am able to see people virtually from New Mexico. For New Mexico clients only I will not be prescribing controlled substances due to DEA regulations. This does not apply to Colorado.
I understand how lonely and confusing it can be to navigate school, family expectations, pressures to perform, identity, and relationships. Feeling anxious about these pressures & unknowns is understandable. If you have also experienced trauma, grief/loss, or are managing anxiety or depression on top of this- it can sometimes feel like too much. I would be honored to support you in your process. I am trained in evidence based skills, somatic therapy approaches for working with your nervous system, and creative processes. I also specialize in supporting LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent folx navigating the world.
You may find yourself thinking, “I should be further along by now,” yet feel stuck going through the motions of life. At times, emotions may feel overwhelming, while at other moments you feel numb or disconnected. Life, like the ocean, comes in waves. Some sets are gentle, and others are surging. In those moments when the current sweeps you out know that you don’t have to swim alone. I support individuals working through anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am here to wade in the water with you, sit at the water’s edge, or hold space until the tide shifts, and the tides always shift. My approach to therapy is rooted in creating safety, collaboration, and respect for your lived experience. I view therapy as a sacred space where I meet you where you are, support you through vulnerable moments, and honor your journey as it ebbs and flows. Together, we work to build coping skills, connection, and capacity for healing. If this resonates, I invite you to reach out. You can call me or send me a message to begin exploring whether we’re a good fit.
To speak of one’s experience can open the door to self-examination and potential change. By giving voice to thoughts that are otherwise left unsaid, it’s possible to both articulate one’s pain and find ways out of suffering. As a clinician, I seek to give each individual room to speak freely and openly about their experience of life, without offering prescriptive solutions to unique concerns. My clinical approach is primarily psychoanalytic and psychodynamic, where I invite people to speak of their experience without censoring their thoughts, leaving room for the expression of something unexpected. I also draw from other practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy and narrative therapy, if they suit a particular client or situation. Just as each individual is different, so is every treatment.
I am a licensed professional counselor specializing in helping adolescent and adult patients expand their resilience and coping skills to better navigate current challenges. While I specialize in treating root causes of chronic anxiety and depression, I am also here to assist those struggling with PTSD, compulsive disorders, behavioral/conduct issues, neurodiverse issues, grief, and life changes, with extensive experience working with patients managing substance use disorders. Working together, you can expect a stable and calming environment where kindness and respect are the pillars in which a trusting relationship is built. I use an eclectic array of treatments to help achieve your goals, from cognitive interventions to somatic therapy, play therapy to creative interventions – all with an emphasis on expanding self-worth, healthy reward systems, and discipline. I am especially passionate about incorporating somatic interventions from a trauma-informed lens. This multi-faceted approach is best described as flexible and tailored, keeping your unique needs and objectives as the focus at all times. I look forward to creating a safe, open space with you in our time together. My path to becoming a therapist began as a teenager upon experiencing significant traumatic events with the loss of my older brother and cousin. These events developed and deepened my commitment to providing compassionate, empathic responses to those undergoing defining life changes. Now, I place high emphasis on not forgetting life experiences, but expanding on resilience to cope with and honor them. When I’m not in the office, I love spending my free time outside. Hiking, camping, fishing, snowboarding, attending live music shows, and even oil painting – I love it all!
Young adults feeling anxious, lost, or in family struggles often crave a safe space to express themselves openly. Therapy offers just that, along with tools to manage emotions, navigate confusing situations, and build confidence. It's incredibly rewarding to witness your growth and self-discovery as you overcome challenges and embrace your unique journey. I utilize a variety of methods in my therapeutic practice. Some methods used include: EMDR, CBT, Solutions Focused, Acceptance and Commitment, Humanistic, Family, Systems, and Internal Family Systems. I also like to include art, music, and somatic practices in my sessions. If you are looking to begin therapy, or have questions about what therapy can do for you, I'm happy to chat. I am available by phone or email.

I work with people who feel overwhelmed, stuck in their own heads, or worn down by anxiety, obsessive or intrusive thoughts, depression, food or body concerns, perfectionism, relationship stress or breakups, or the lasting impact of past experiences—and who are looking for thoughtful, effective support to move forward. I take a steady, collaborative approach that’s grounded in research but tailored to you. I’m thoughtful about pacing, and we’ll spend time understanding what’s been keeping you stuck, building practical tools you can actually use day to day, and working toward meaningful change in a way that feels manageable and safe. Hey! My name is Elena, I use she/her pronouns, and I work with rebels, rioters, and revolutionaries. My practice is one that centers and celebrates authenticity, courageous exploration, and a collaborative, therapeutic relationship. In practice, this can look like taking the time to build trust and connection, pulling from a wide variety of modalities, and curiosity and silliness when needed (which I believe is often!) I have seen many therapists feel the need to rush into “fixing”; in my work, there is no rush and there is no “fixing”. Together, we will sit in the messy experience of being human; exploring and learning from our pain while uplifting and celebrating the joys. We will co-create your therapy experience, making it into whatever you need it to be in order to feel as safe as possible. I bring an anti-oppression and decolonization lens to the work of therapy, as this helps to ensure that I do my best to mitigate the harmful impacts of these systemic issues in the healing space. I will certainly make mistakes. I hope you do, too! These are opportunities for both of us to practice collective learning, unlearning, and healing. I believe that therapy is community. We may share certain identities and there will be those we do not share, yet it remains a community. Let's be in joyous community together!
