Therapists for college students near San Francisco, CA
I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationship struggles. I have a special focus on athletes, performers, and creatives hitting walls, performance blocks, creative freezes, and the trauma quietly running the show from backstage. If you know you're capable of more but something keeps getting in the way, that's exactly where we dig in. I'm mindfulness-based, DBT-informed, and solution-focused, and certified in Brainspotting and Play Therapy. These two approaches reach places that talk therapy alone sometimes can't. Think of them as secret passageways to what's already inside you. My approach is collaborative, grounded, and completely tailored to you: no therapy-speak, just honest conversation, real tools, and a little humor when it helps. Whatever you're carrying, we'll figure out together, building on your strengths at your pace.
Change is within reach. Are you struggling with burnout, anxiety, or depression? Do you feel trapped or overwhelmed by difficult emotions? Change is possible if you’re yearning for a shift in your life. I specialize in guiding individuals through transformative journeys, helping them break free from limiting patterns and heal past wounds that stand in the way of fulfillment. In my therapy sessions, you’ll find a safe haven—an open, compassionate, judgment-free space. Together, we’ll explore your inner world, uncover hidden truths, and develop new coping skills. Your authentic self awaits. My areas of focus include anxiety, childhood trauma, relationship challenges, women’s issues, and existential concerns. I help clients reclaim their vitality to live peaceful, heart-centered lives. My work with women centers on empowering them to embrace self-worth and inner strength. I utilize EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and Hakomi Mindfulness techniques. I offer a holistic, personalized approach that integrates body, mind, and spirit. Certified in Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy, I work with ketamine (KAP) and offer preparation and integration sessions for medicine journeys with psilocybin, MDMA, and ayahuasca. Hello, my name is Stacy Udolph, LCSW. I specialize in helping individuals manage stress, navigate life transitions, strengthen relationships, process grief, and overcome the fears and self-doubt that can interfere with personal growth, success, and well-being. I have been working in college counseling for the past 12 years, supporting young adults as they adjust to college life, develop greater independence, and prepare for their future careers and professional lives. I understand that the transition to college can bring unique academic, social, and emotional challenges, and I enjoy helping students build the skills and confidence needed to thrive during this important stage of life. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California, where I received comprehensive training in mental health assessment and treatment, with a particular focus on understanding how patterns of thinking influence mood, behavior, and overall functioning. In addition, I have completed specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), grief counseling, and mindfulness-based approaches for anxiety and depression. With more than 26 years of combined experience as a therapist and educator, I recognize the importance of creating a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe exploring difficult emotions and personal challenges. My goal is to help students gain insight, develop practical coping strategies, and make meaningful changes that enhance their quality of life. Clients often appreciate my calm, collaborative approach and my focus on providing concrete tools and techniques that can be applied in everyday situations. I believe therapy should be both supportive and effective, helping you better understand yourself while building skills that promote resilience and long-term well-being. I look forward to partnering with you as you navigate life's challenges and work toward your personal and academic goals.

This time in your life can be one of transitions and transformations. Talking to a professional and processing it all can be very beneficial. You’re not alone. Whether you’re dealing with the stress of academic pressure, social pressures, anxiety, or depression, I’ve helped many individuals sort through these issues that can arise during this time in one’s life.
Having had the pleasure of working with college students at Santa Clara University, SJSU, and UCLA, I help people feel better by addressing the specific concerns that bring them to therapy. I aim to listen carefully and offer a safe space to explore what’s on your mind, with the goal of helping you get what you want from therapy and feel more like yourself again. My work often focuses on relieving emotional distress, deepening connection to one’s feelings, gaining insight into recurring challenges, and fostering a greater sense of self-alignment and vitality. I've had the opportunity to help folks address many challenges in therapy from anxiety, depression, loss, and relationship challenges to questions about one's identity, life transitions, and processing difficult experiences from childhood. This approach to therapy is called psychodynamic. In my approach, I incorporate many principles from AEDP and have also been trained in other modalities such as CBT, ACT, and DBT. I sometimes draw from these modalities when someone may want to develop coping skills to deal with life’s ups and downs as they work towards their goals for therapy. I also welcome people to bring up issues of race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity, pertinent political issues as well as any other aspects of their culture or themselves they wish to share, explore, or better understand in therapy.
I believe that in order to truly be able to help my clients I must always present as my authentic self. What that means is that you can expect me to share my honest thoughts and opinions, to be direct & concise, to incorporate humor as often as possible, and I won’t shy away from discomfort or conflict. While at the same time balancing that by providing you with unconditional positive regard, empathy, and support. I 100% believe that in order for therapy to be effective the client-therapist relationship must be genuine and both parties must carry mutual respect and trust for each other. This is something I strive to create and build-up starting from our first several interactions; as well as something I work hard to maintain up until our very last session. I am trauma informed therapist that specializes in working with professionals in the helping field (ie. first responders, educators, nurses, therapists, etc), with parents and children with behavioral issues, and have extensive experience working with BIPOC, immigrants, and AAPI communities. In our first session, we'll talk through what brought you in and get clear on what you want to walk away with — so we're aligned on what this space is for and what my role will be. Together we'll build a plan with intention and direction, not open-ended sessions that drift. Over time, the goal isn't just to feel less anxious or triggered. It's to trust yourself again, hold your story with compassion, and move through the world without needing to translate yourself.
I am interested in working with motivated students who are willing to invest themselves in the therapeutic process. I provide a safe place to talk and a supportive place to address what "hurts", "what's really hard and stressful in their life". Therapy is a relationship based on team work and a willingness to invest attention and time from me as well as from the client. Some issues are resolved quickly while others require more attention and time to resolve.
I am a board-certified psychiatrist and Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. For me, being a physician is more than a profession—it is a vocation to help indviduals flourish. My practice is devoted to students and young adults seeking thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care that extends beyond symptom relief. I provide comprehensive evaluations that consider medical, nutritional, lifestyle, and psychological factors—including laboratory testing when clinically appropriate—to identify the contributors to emotional and cognitive health. I also specialize in evidence-based de-prescribing for patients who wish to reduce or discontinue psychiatric medications for anxiety, attention difficulties, or substance use disorders. My approach is guided by precision, humility, and restraint: using the least intensive intervention necessary while drawing upon the full breadth of evidence-based medicine. Depending on each patient's needs and goals, I integrate psychotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, exercise, targeted supplementation, and, when appropriate, carefully selected medications into a personalized treatment plan. In addition to my clinical work, I have presented internationally on psychiatric deprescribing and medical ethics. My work has been recognized with awards from the American Psychiatric Association, the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and other leading professional organizations. I am the Founder & Medical Director of Verigrate Health. I am licensed to serve patients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Lousiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin.
