I see therapy as a process of continuously understanding oneself. My approach is eclectic, meaning that I utilize many different theories and methods in my work, however I’ve found myself leaning on psychodynamic and narrative techniques most often. The psychodynamic approach to therapy essentially means that the things in our past matter, and that they played a role in shaping who we are. Narrative therapy is a theory that works to help you understand the story you tell about your life, and to see your concerns outside of yourself, and that you are not your problems.
Sometimes these approaches don’t work for everyone - and that’s ok! It’s my job to see what does work for you, and it’s important that I remain adaptable in how I work with my clients. My techniques may change and evolve, but these things will remain true: my therapy practice is one that will validate you, see you authentically, and challenge you.
I can provide you with paperwork for reimbursement from your insurance company if you are seeking out-of-network sessions.
